Texas polygamy

I feel like I'm missing something here.  Why is it that the polygamists can stay in Utah for years with no retribution but within just a couple of years in Texas, the state finds enough cause to round them up?  I just don't see what the difference is.  I for one minute do not believe that Utah and Arizona have not got complaints, calls, other tips and more in all those years.  Call me crazy.  Yes this is a huge mess, but it's pretty obvious, especially from what these people are saying, that first, they are so brainwashed they don't know what's going on, and second that they do know full well that old men are having sex with adolescent girls.  And this Trib editorial is stupid.  "Americans observing this ordeal should be concerned for the mental and emotional well-being of these children and their parents, to say nothing of their civil rights."   Sorry Trib editors, but  you have got to be shitting me!  Isn't it fucking obvious that their mental and emotional well-being is not being adequately taken care of  in their current situation?  Have you not watched the interviews?  Give me a fucking break here.  How is it in the best interest of these kids to be raised like this?  How about the human right that a female has to control her own body and her sexuality?  What  about the right to not be a victim of crime?  What about the responsibility of the state to the victims here, and not just the females, what about the boys who are kicked out of the community, the lost boys?  What about their rights?

I also enjoy the argument that this is infringing on their religious beliefs.  Sorry, but Thuggee followers of the Hindu goddess Kali are not allowed to murder people to prevent Kali from coming.  Mayans are not allowed to do human sacrifice.  Rastafari are not legally allowed to smoke cannabis.  It is not a breech of the first amendment to restrict religious beliefs that would make things that are normally illegal, legal.

With the editors showing how stupid they are, I do have to give a good review to Cory Hodge's article also from the Trib.  I think he gets it.  These people do this because they are told from birth that if they don't God will damn them to hell.

This whole thing just mystifies me.  I just feel like I'm missing something here.

I wish that people would understand that the issue in NOT polygamy. The issue is that girls are being forced to marry at age 14 or 15. And they are expected to consumate that marriage. If they were not forcing girls to get married and have sex at that age, none of this would have ever happened. At least not at that scale. (In Texas, bigamy is against the law, there would have been prosecution, but not a big raid.) This is all about protecting children. Religion has nothing whatsoever to do with it. You can not and should not hide behind religion when chilren are being harmed.
