For Gaby, all I am going to say is that I hope everything works out well and you get back in business shortly.
Ok, watching the match again, this time with slow motion and the ability to rewind gave me a few more impressions. First, Peralta had an absolute howler of a match. As the center back in a 3 man line (which was a huge mistake), he has to come up big and he just didn't. He had no clue on marking, Beckerman's first goal was all on him, since he did not react at all to Kovalenko's pass and gave Beckerman 10 yards, inside the box no less, in which to shoot.
The second goal, Espindola's, Peralta didn't even make a play for the ball at Espindola's feet. Granted, if Wells or Perkins were in net, that would not have dribbled in. After that, for the rest of the half, RSL played like RSL teams of the past. Bunkerball does not work and it was heartening to see adjustments made at the half by the coaching staff to get the team to change their mentality. The entire second half RSL spent attacking the goal which for this team especially, is by far the best idea.
On Deuchar's two break aways, the one he chipped the keeper but missed the goal, and the one he was called offside on, both again came down to a breakdown by Peralta. DC could not match RSL's speed up front, even Deuchar's, who is not our fastest forward, but is not by any means slow.
Findley off the bench is a good sub for Espindola. Findley's speed can best be utilized after a back line is tired.
Beckerman's second goal was simply amazing. Despite good defense on Findley, the run and shot Beckerman made would not have been stopped no matter who the defenders were. I still do not understand why this was not Goal of the Week.
Findley's goal, well, what can you say, it was certainly audacious, but there is no way that goes in against a competent keeper. For that matter, there is no way that even happens with a competent keeper.
